The Batticaloa Medical Association held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on February 5, 2025, at the Main Auditorium of the Teaching Hospital Batticaloa. Dr. A. Iqbal, the outgoing president, chaired the meeting and provided a summary of the association’s activities over the past year.
Financial statements were reviewed and approved, confirming the association’s strong financial position. The meeting’s main focus was the election of the new Executive Committee for the year 2025/26. Prof. V. Thirukumar was elected as the new President, taking over from Dr. Iqbal. Other key positions, including Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Secretary, Assistant Treasurer, Chief Editor, and coordinators for CME and social activities, were filled by dedicated members committed to advancing the association’s mission.
The Editorial Board and selection committee members were also appointed to support ongoing projects and initiatives. The new leadership outlined plans to manage future projects effectively and maintain financial responsibility to ensure the association’s continued growth and contribution to the medical community in Batticaloa.
